The Toyoda Automatic Loom Works Company was founded in 1926 by Sakichi Toyoda. The company produced looms and other innovative products. A new segment of the business was formed in nineteen thirty three, placed in the control of the founder's son, Kiichiro Toyoda, a business geared towards car and motoring production. The Toyota Motor Corp is now a vast empire of epic promotions, employing over three hundred thousand people across the globe, and being the world's leading car maker. The Toyota group has over five hundred subsidiary companies, and has its headquarters in Japan.

The slight tweaking of the company name from "Toyoda" to "Toyota" was one due to a handful of factors, it is believed. The new name was clearer, a separation from the family and also Japanese translation (meaning "fertile rice fields"), and also took eight brush strokes in Japanese, a number which illustrates luck in the Japanese culture.Kiichiro Toyoda has travelled to the United States to research automobile production in the latter year of the nineteen twenties, looking specifically into the manufacture of gasoline powered engine units shortly afterwards. The new subsidiary of his farther company would manufacture cars for the Japanese and overseas markets, a plan much welcomed by the Japanese government for creating wealth. With the earliest models produced by the company much resembling that of Dodge and Chevrolet models, the first Toyota car was the A1, produced in nineteen thirty five.

Production within the Toyota factory shifted during World War Two, with the company now producing trucks for the Japanese army, implementing cost cutting methods to the trucks to ensure greater output to the severely low military stock. The company survived the Second World War, with manufacturing of cars beginning again in nineteen forty seven. The SA model was produced, a decision opposed to updating the old AA model, with new Toyota light trucks sharing the same chassis and parts. Expansion of the car maker saw a new sales company set up as a division of the group, running for thirty two years. A new dealer chain was also established, with new cars being exported to America and Brazil. Further advances, with the creation of a R and D facility, and greater globalisation of the brand, saw a greater world wide recognition of the car maker, now a mass car exporter.

Ford Fiesta

Ford Fiesta

There is very little to say about the brand new Ford Fiesta that hasn't already been said. Critics and the public have declared it a universal success and the plaudits for Ford's design team have been literally gushing ever since the new Fiesta Model was unveiled last year. I, however, was a fan of the previous Ford Fiesta incarnation. The body was exactly like a slightly smaller Ford Focus; sleek and rounded, but with mature sporty flourishes. I personally found the new Fiesta to have the visage of a car that, at best, was trying a little too hard.

As it happens, I am obviously in luck, as there are a considerable amount of used or nearly new Ford Fiestas available at the moment, all of which are the previous design style. I visited my local Ford dealer and was astonished that there was a very long waiting list for the new Fiesta, but there were so many fantastic old Fiestas available at a fraction of the price. The old adage that taste counts for nothing really does appear to be true. In my eyes the new Fiesta looks like it was designed by a child with a fixation for colours that resemble hard candy.
