The car has been around for over one hundred years and has developed every year and improved in almost every single aspect. From power steering, to starter motors, to alternators, leather interiors, revolutionary suspension and state of the art electronic systems show just how far the car has come through the decades.
With the auto retail market being as large as it is, with endless investments and demand for better cars all the time, the innovations that these companies constantly come up with to improve the models and rages of the car brands really is phenomenal.
Some aspects of technology have improved leaps and bounds to make the overall driving experience of the car much more enjoyable and safe. For example modern suspension compared to the older models is much more effective at minimizing the shock that the driver and passengers will feel from bumps in the road. The slight downside with this is one could argue that it takes some of the 'feel' of the road from the driver meaning that he would not be able to judge the road condition and his driving as effectively.
Another absolutely amazing development that has come through hard work and innovation is the ABS braking system that basically reduces the risk of skidding dramatically and overall makes the braking of a car much safer and much more effective. Again comparing it to more classical braking systems it is obviously much better however one argument against ABS braking systems is that it can make the driver less concerned about braking in time as he may think that because his car has ABS brakes then they will stop him in time.
Older cars are much more mechanical inside than new modern cars which seem to rely heavily on electronics and computer chips to make everything work from the air conditioning to the power steering. This has its benefits such as when someone takes in a modern car to check to see if there are any faults, mechanic only needs to do is plug it into the diagnostics computer that will essentially talk to the cars on board computer and flag up what is wrong and how long it has been like that. One problem with this like with anything that just relies on technology is if there is a fault with the computer or any of the components then the car can be plagued from day one with lots of faults and issues.
